The dewar from the Leica ICE that catches samples after freezing is a metal assembly, with large metal tubes that stick out from the surface of the LN2. Because the dewar is made of metal, a large amount of ice condenses onto its surfaces. This ice is dislodged during high pressure freezing and ejected into the LN2 where the frozen samples wait for further processing. This ice particulate can quickly contaminate your samples. Our foam dewar has better insulating properties and reduces ice contamination that can get onto your samples, reducing the negative effects that large amounts of ice can have on the correlative and milling workflow.
